Tall ships

This was us moored along side the Jeanie Johnson in Dublin City at Easter.
So it was really good to be able to go inside and look around her in Liverpool.

Liverpool Weekend

Had a fab time in Liverpool. Initially rain and wind stopped play. We were supposed to set out at 9am Friday - The yachts had set sail at about 1am - as we were "stowing for sea" (which means make sure the brandy doesnt get spilt!) one of the yachts sailed back into the Marina - They had been out for hours and one of the girls was very sick. Poor Eileen had spent the night hugging the toilet!!!! So we went and played ten pin bowling instead.

Saturday morning didnt look much better but we ventured out to the Orme - and it was pretty rough - but once we turned the corner in calmed. So off we went. 3 power boats, Jan and Glyn crewing for us - well more like galley slaves really. Glyn is great at doing the navigation and rope work etc so I could sail in peace and not get wet. Went to see the tall ships. The Jeanie Johnson had been moored up with us in Ireland earlier in the year so I was great to have a proper look around her. Next year cos its Capital of Culture in Liverpoool there will be over 100 Tall ships. Had a great Chinese meal in town then back to the boat to party til about 2am - you will see from the photos what can be done with Orange peel!!!! We have mad friends. We sailed down the mersey to watch the Nobby racing - one of our friends Nic was crewing (A nobby is a sail boat commissioned for commercial use and not for racing).
Liverpool Marina is entered via a lock - so that was a first for us - never been in one before - - its a very small gap to get the boat through!

Then we sailed back past the windmills which can been seen when you drive down the A55 - they are huge. Our poor friend Sarah was rather ill - but it was self inflicted from the night before so no sympathy!!!!

Mum's 7oth birthday - photo of all the grand kids - from left to right

James, Ashley, Callum, Dan, Jenna, Thomas and Bella sat with mum.

Had a fab party at mum's house.

I used to be of the opinion that 70 was old - but mum and her friends prove us wrong - they can party the night away!

Steve with Jan and Mike at Aberwystwth Marina - lovely spot - had dolphin swimming in our wake. Great curry in the resturant at the main station - I can recommend the chicken chat - yummy.

Ellie sits and watches the beautiful scenery in the Menai Straits

half term holiday

Steve and I have been at the boat for the last two weeks. We have had a great time - sailed over 350 miles. Been to the Isle of Man and then to Aberwystwth in mid Wales. Fab time - weather beautiful. Off to Liverpool this weekend to see the River Festival.
